Akins Bobo, when the Lagos State Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) broke the news of your death to me on phone far away in Abuja, I lost my balance. You were my friend of over forty years; the best of all friends. During our undergraduate years, as your classmate and roommate in the University of Ife, (now OAU), you were exceptionally intelligent and brilliant. You always got prepared for examinations two weeks ahead. Akin, you were the President of EMSA while I was the Education Committee Chairman and we organised seminars for all students in the Department. We attended the first National Conference of NIESV together at the University of Ibadan venue in 1983, few months to our final examination. We both did our NYSC in Lagos and worked in Lagos. You usually came to my house to find out if there were any of our classmates that were yet unemployed. This became our duty and we assisted some of them.Akin, you established Realtor Institute where I was a lecturer from 1997 to 2001. The Institute was preparing candidates for NIESV Professional examinations, many surveyors today passed through the School. You were more than a friend; you were my brother, confidant, encourager and regular trainer of my staff in J Ajayi Patunola & Co. At the beginning of my tenure as the 22nd President of NIESV, you met with my Management team to fashion out the agenda for the two years and it was all action packed. You belonged to various professional bodies nationally and Internationally and served in many of them as the President, Director, Chairman, Coordinator among others. Akin, you are more than a hundred persons to me, and many like me. Akin, it is one of the most difficult thing to say, but let me say good night until we meet at the resurrection morning when we shall all be with Jesus. Painful as your exit was for me, I never expected that it would hit me this bad though, considering the fact that I have always viewed your philosophy as too moderate for an Afro-Centric human environment experience, it has always been my belief that you belong to an era in which righteousness is not just the law but a lifestyle . But YES , you are an angel in passage, transiting through this interplanetary geography , nothing seemingly touched you to the extreme, you were always ready to give a second chance, second thought or even a rebirth! You were almost eternally patient on issues that would get me so worked up I wondered if you were connected to another experiential system. The little time we always have either in texts , chats or work-life or phone calls have had tremendous impact on my life, work and world view, though am still a WIP, its seemingly changing my dusk worldview. AKINOLA OLAWORE, FNIVS, FRICS, PPIRES, PPAfRES, Member Board of Trustee NIESV, Chairman AfRES Nigeria Board of Trustees, President NBCC etc.*I’m just short of words to describe the passing away of this great icon and legend.
I got to know this special human being in 1989 as Branch Manager, Diya Fatimilehin & Co., Ikeja and later when he was NIESV Honorary National Secretary, I was fortunate to be interviewed in his panel both for election as Associate and Registered Membership with ESVARBON.
I was further fortunate to serve under him as the Publicity Secretary of the Very Branch (2003 – 2005), when he was the Chairman and since then we shared a bond, in the profession and selfless service to humanity.
He made me to supervise his Firm’s valuation of Plant & Equipment during the privatization programme amongst others and when he made forays into the African Real Estate Society (AfRES) Turf in 2007, he made me his main ally to reach out to the Ghana Institution of Surveyors and in 2008, the West Africa Chapter of AfRES was birthed hence attendance at the 8th AfRES Annual Conference, Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa, where a contingent of 64 members came from Nigeria alone. He became the President, AfRES in 2009 when Nigeria hosted Executive Director, AfRES and later President, International Real Estate Society (IRES) in 2015. We travelled together to attend all AfRES’ Annual Conference since 2008 as well as without missing any ERES and ARES Conference.
I missed his calls last Monday, 3rd June, 2018 as a result of my being in a meeting and thus called back by 7:30pm and we analysed all our forthcoming engagements up to September 2019 including the KASU – AfRES Education Seminar (June 17 – 19), ERES Conference in France (July 3 – 6), ESVARBON/IVSC/RICS Joint Training on Nigeria Valuation Standards ‘Green Book’ (July 22 -24), AfRES Arusha Conference etc. He also briefed me on his leading a trade delegation of NBCC by next week and thus promised to continue our chatting after the Eid Fitr holiday i.e. Thursday, but alas that wasn’t to be as my dear mentor, legend and icon passed on in a swimming pool incident in his house on Wednesday 5th June, 2019.
Your Soul is free now and I am sure that Now you will be able to see the bright yellow sun, the fragrant flowers, the swaying trees, and the rolling blue sea. I will never forget you and I will always do my best to live up to your expectations. I promise to keep on fighting the good fight.

As a boss, friend, mentor, fellow baptist and most of all my teacher.
Every step I took, you guided without being overbearing or impositions even when I stepped into careers that veered off real estate, you continued to coach me, to direct that value back into my profession without losing my unique advantage.
My career & work values could not have been so rich & beautiful without you.
You taught us humility with a sharp wit when dealing with people in the business world.
Your impact was so profound on us at AOC then, that a lot of your professional contemporaries only remembers us as "Awon Omo Akin" even till now.
Tributes will say so many things that one might assume you were perfect! far from it!, after all you were just a man saved by Grace, BUT what you were perfect in, was taking the giftings God put in your mortal frame to push excellence & professionalism in all that you did as well as pushing people to give the best of themselves.
