The President and Chairman of National Council of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, ESV Sir (Chief) Emmanuel Okas Wike has commended the gas expansion initiative of the Ministerial Committee on National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP).
The commendation was dropped at the level of NGEP stakeholders meeting organized by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on Monday, 9th November, 2020 at Oriental Hotels, Lagos.
The Chairman, National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP), Dr. Mohammed M. Ibrahim in his opening remarks stated that the main objective of the Committee is "To reinforce and expand gas supply as well as stimulate demand in the country through effective and efficient mobilization and utilisation of all assets, resources and infrastructure in the country”.
He also analyzed the positive multiplier effects of Natural Gas as the catalyst for Nigeria’s Economic Renaissance. Dr MM Ibrahim charged the stakeholders in Housing, Investment and Financial, as well as Oil and Gas sectors respectively to support, partner and collaborate with NGEP to achieve her set objective.
While responding, NIESV President commended FGN for setting up committee on NGEP at this critical time and emphasized the need to apply proximity to raw materials as a key determinant in the location and localisation of industry. He therefore pledged the support of the Institution in the areas of Compensation & Acquisition, Facility Management, Assets Valuation for Mortgage, Insurance and other purposes and Project Management among others.
He also saw the huge investment opportunities in the Gas Expansion project and therefore enjoyed members of the Institution to also invest and or facilitate investments in this sector as gas utilisation is going to become the new normal in the country sooner than later.
With President Wike at the stakeholders meeting were the first Vice President, ESV Johnbull Osarumen Amayaevbo FNIVS and the Honourary National Publicity Secretary, ESV. (Otunba) Saheed Makinde.
