LBS-NIESV Real Estate Industry Summit 2023_
It was another gathering of professionals and stakeholders in the real estate industry, particularly Estate Surveyors and Valuers, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the maiden edition of the LBS-NIESV Real Estate Industry Summit.
The well-attended, insightful, and highly impactful Summit with the theme "Building for the future: Innovations, Opportunities, and Quality Control" took place at the Honeywell Auditorium of the prestigious Lagos Business School.
In his opening address, the Dean of LBS, Professor Chris Ogbeiche commended real estate professionals for the valuable roles and contributions they have made to nation-building. While reminding us of the responsibility of shaping the future of the industry and the nation, he admonished us to leverage the Summit for networking and collaboration if we must make the desired impact.
President, ESV Johnbull Amayaevbo, PNIVS in his welcome address told the audience that the objective of the Summit is to provide a platform for sharing and strengthening knowledge, skills, and competencies of real estate professionals in our dynamic world and economies. He urged professionals in the Real Estate Industry to forge ahead with innovations to ensure a brighter future for the industry, the future of our country, and the next generation of practitioners.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was ably represented by Secretary to the State Government, Bar. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin commended LBS and NIESV for the initiative, particularly for the theme which he described as topical, appropriate, and timely. He pledged the readiness of the government to collaborate with real estate practitioners in every way possible to realise the lofty objectives of the Summit.
Keynote Speaker, ESV Gbenga Olaniyan, FNIVS in his well-crafted paper told the participants that the first thing to understand in building for the future is the market and its dynamics. He noted the critical role technology, particularly Artificial intelligence will be playing in construction and called on professionals to get themselves ready and positioned through skills and knowledge acquisition.
Udo Okonjo, CEO/ Vice Chairman, Fine and Country West Africa, the second keynote Speaker while speaking on "Embracing Change and Innovation in Real Estate" said real estate professionals must develop the mindset of bringing solutions to problems to explore and maximize opportunities in the Nigerian real estate landscape. Innovation starts with our thinking, she emphasised.
