Advocacy Visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
Advocacy as one of the primary agendas of the current administration towards re-positioning our noble Institution gained another boost as our distinguished President, ESV Johnbull Amayaevbo, PNIVS, RSV, pslc paid a visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), OFR.
The high-powered delegation of the Institution ably, led by the President, are the 2nd Vice President, ESV (Mallam) Bature Ali Muhammed FNIVS, Asst. Hon. National Treasurer, ESV Olabode Abdulazeez FNIVS, Director/Head of Department Lands and Housing, ESV (Mrs) Great Ederaka A. D. FNIVS, Unofficial member of Council, ESV Ikenna Lansar Aghaji FNIVS, RSV, ESV Dr. Ethel Mendie, ANIVS and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Uche Ukachikara, FCIA and other members of the Institution.
The President stressed the need for the agency to partner with the Institution in her area of core competencies and statutory functions ranging from Valuation, Facility Management, Auctioneering, Land administration, Compensation, etc. He also emphasized that estate surveyor and valuers are the only professionals empowered by law to put a value on assets, properties, plants, equipment, etc. He then encouraged the Agency to always engage members in carrying out such functions. He advised the Agency to employ Estate Surveyors and Valuers in its system for proper guidance on issues as it relates to the functions of the Institution.
The Chairman/CEO appreciated the visit and assured the Institution of the agency’s readiness to collaborate with NIESV. In his remarks, the fight against drugs is encompassing, and the Institution is also a stakeholder in combacting the menace.
Brig.Gen. Buba Marwa Rtd encouraged the Institution to set up a small Drug Control Committee to assist in the fight against drug abuse among members and that such a Committee will be play corporate social responsibility roles to the society.The Institution will also need to help the Agency in its rehabilitation facilities Management.
Finally, he assured the Institution that the Agency would be willing to collaborate with the Institution in sensitization workshops/training, and that NDLEA would always be glad to send representatives as participants.
